No Talking by Andrew Clements

How will the teachers and principals react when a normally way-too-talkative class nicknamed the "unshushables" suddenly becomes SILENT? Is it because of a student rebellion? A strange disease? Or is it just the result of a contest between the boys and the girls?

  1. I think the children in my class could really relate to this!In art we never usually got all 4 points but lately we have been! Like the teachers in this book I had no idea what was going on!We did so well that now we get to make paper mache masks and animals! I got lucky and was actually reading this book during the time I had no idea of what was going on with art! This book is a great book if you're looking to make connections because everyone can be loud and talkative at times and can also be so quiet that you can hear a pin drop in the room! This book should be on the list of 100 books to read before you die!

  3. I enjoyed this book. I can't help but laugh at your average boy vs girl fight. I can really relate to this book. Every time I play soccer with my friends it's always boys against girls. It made me upset that the author made the girls seem like they talk way too much about unimportant things. They made it seem like the boys were supposed to win in the end. I bet every girl who reads this book will side with the girls in the book.I also just wish that someday the rest of the 5th graders would just be completely silent in the cafeteria.

  4. No Talking is a book to enjoy. It's really funny, but to my perspective... what's wrong with talking? and why did they make the challenge so hard? However it was a good book.

  5. The second I picked this book I just couldn't put it down! I got so excited because I love competitions between boys and girls. I'm sure that this could have happened at our school if we could be quiet for that long. I could have guessed by the way this book was written that it would have been a nutmeg nominee. If you haven't read this book it's a great one to read.

  6. I have only read the first 60 pages so far but I love the book! I chose this book because I know my class is not quiet so I wanted to see how quiet other kids can be. I fined this book to be very funny and I can't wait to read more!

  7. I think this book is great! because there are some interesting things that I didn't know, like there was a Gandhi in it and when you don't talk for a whole day your mind gets more powerful. And I tried to stop talking for one whole day but it was hard and i didn't make it. I failed. But i didn't stop trying and i learned that a Gandhi doesn't fight like a fist fight.I learned that a Gandhi fight with words.
