Elephant Run by Roland Smith

Nick Freestone is trying to escape Nazi bombs in London when his mother sends him to stay with his father on a teak plantation in Burma. Unfortunately he arrives in Burma just as the Japanese invade the country and take his father prisoner. Can he and his new friend Mya risk their lives to help POWs escape on elephant back?

  1. Roland Smith really outdid himself in this astounding, suspenseful novel! My library teacher gave me this book because I read all 10 nutmeg's last year.I am so happy that she gave me this book! I have read 8 out of the 10 nutmegs so far and by far this one is the best! This book was suspenseful because when the elephant was going through the city Nick was so scared.I literally must have read the fastest I have ever read to find out what will happen! When Nick's dad was captured I felt really bad for him!His mom just sent him to his dad so he would be more safe. But it is actually really dangerous for Nick there. Also Nick just saw his dad for like 1 hour then he hadn't seen him because he had to work on soemthing for the plantation and then he was captured!Nick has barely seen him his whole life! This book is a tremendous book!

  3. Elephant run is a suspensful book. When Nick Freestone finally goes back to Burma to vist his father he has to leave beause the Japanese are invading Burma.I feel bad for him because he has not seen his father for practicly his life and now he has to leave him again. If I where in his situation I would not leave even though I don't have a choice because I barely even now my father.

  5. I like this book because it tells me about action and world war II. I think Roland Smith is very good as a author. My least favorite part is when the Japanese drop bombs on the buildings and When the Japanese invade the country and Nick Freestone's father gets taken by the Japanese as Prisoner

  6. Roland Smith really did an awesome job on his book called Elephant Run. It is an outstanding, has a lot of action, and I very excited to read it. After one of the bombs demolishes their apartment building, Nick is sent on a secret mission to Burma. A few days later, the Japanese invade the country and Nick freestone's father get captured. Now the only way for Nick Freestone to save his father is by elephant. I am very anxious to see what happens next. I want everyone to read this book. It is very interesting and shows a lot of action. It is one of the best books I have ever read.
